Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE Singapore)
is a registered charity and a youth development agency established
in 1997. For the last 10 years, CARE has been providing school-based
social work services, reaching out to primary and secondary
youths at risk of academic failure, behaviour problems, emotional
maladjustment, self-harm or delinquency.
CARE’s Vision:
to raise RIPE young people who are:
- Resilient: Will thrive despite setbacks or disadvantages
- Involved: Will give back and contribute to the community
- Purposeful: With a sense of direction and hope
- Empowered: With life skills to turn dreams to reality
Volunteer Involvement
We believe it takes a village to raise a child, but only one
child to raze a village.
That’s why we actively engage the community by training
them to befriend, support and mentor our students too.
Our work is about:
- igniting success stories,
- healing hearts, restoring dreams,
- shaping young lives today for a better, safer tomorrow.
Every person is useful and has something
positive to contribute. This belief in the success story within
each child is what drives our mission of helping youths succeed.
In essence: CARE’s work is a social
investment for a safer tomorrow by helping at-risk youths
today.
Why this work is critical:
Youths who go astray incur high social costs. Our task is
to divert youths from crime or self-harm and help them develop
their potential instead.
Why support CARE: It costs
over $2million to run the Uth Power! program for 1200 students.
Your financial support helps us continue to impact and change
lives.
Years of Service: CARE has been helping
at-risk youths for the past ten years. 2007 marks our 10th
anniversary.
Numbers: Through our range of services, we
have worked with over 25,000 youths, trained over 2,000 teachers
& parents, and generated over 100,000 volunteer hours
for over 5,000 volunteers. Through Uth Power! alone, we have
helped over 6000 students.
Achievements: The scores
of “success stories” and transformed lives are
CARE’s proudest achievements and motivation that compel
us to keep going. Among them was a depressed and suicidal
student who later became the proud recipient of 2 prestigious
Lee Kuan Yew Awards.
