OVERVIEW of Duties & Responsibilities:
The Counsellor is entrusted with and accountable for providing
professional counselling and therapy services in the schools
and/or at the YOUthCARE Centre. He or she works alongside the
Youth Worker in providing INTERVENTION for students who need
such help or support. He/she will also be assigned other counselees
as and when the need arises. The counsellor will also conduct
groupwork dealing with teens and parenting issues.
The Counsellor needs to understand clearly the nature of
the Youth Worker’s work as he/she plays a role that
supports and complements the Youth Worker in the area of intervention.
The Counsellor also has to keep and maintain records, provide
reports and maintain close rapport with teachers and parents,
ensuring greater success in helping our youths.
Qualifications needed for Counsellors
Bachelor degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work
Grad Dip or Masters in Counselling
At least three years of relevant experience
